When you start, begin a notebook (ask for a lab notebook or even a general spiral one if you have to). Use it as a daily log. Write down everything you do and see, including how you did it (example: how to dial local or long distance numbers from center) and who with. Also, every person you talk to, what you talked about, and their contact information. This can be invaluable from one day to the next (like remembering exactly what your mentor wanted you to do on a project), at the end of a term (writing those co-op reports and trying to figure out exactly what you did do), and for when you come back (try remembering little details around here after being gone four or more months; it's real fun).
Morgan actually suggested this to me at the beginning of the first term and I'm glad I did.
